(Suppose you have successfully wooed the Tralfamadorian. Now the alien has become remarkably open-minded and has asked you to outline the ethical theory/theories that should guide the interactions between the human and Tralfmadorian races. Discuss the outline you will present. )

[Blog Entry #1] How important is Ethics? Ha unsa daw naay alien dre padung na!

(An alien from planet Tralfamadore comes to Earth and is baffled by the concept of ethics. In their planet, there’s no such thing. There’s only absolute freedom – the same freedom that motivated him to conquer Earth. As an earthling, it is your inherent duty to convince the Tralfamadorian that ethics is important. This is the only way to save humanity. Make every word count)

Ethics

The term is derived from the Greek word ethos which can mean custom, habit, character or disposition.

What is Ethics? Technically speaking Ethics is the branch of study dealing with what is the proper course of action for man. It answers the question, “What do I do?” It is the study of right and wrong in human endeavors. At its simplest, ethics is a system of moral principles. They affect how people make decisions and lead their lives. Ethics is concerned with what is good for individuals and society and is also described as moral philosophy. Ethics is a requirement for human life. It is our means of deciding a course of action. Without it, our actions would be random and aimless. There would be no way to work towards a goal because there would be no way to pick between a limitless number of goals.

 In short ethics want’s these things to be implemented or shall we say this is the goal of ethics in our lives.

•          how to live a good life
•          our rights and responsibility
•          the language of right and wrong
•          moral decision - what is good and bad?

Ethics is derived from religions, philosophies and cultures which is mostly true to all.

And for the question there is how would I convince the Tralfamadorian that ethics is important?

·         How would i convince them?

I would never talk to them. I will fight with all my might. Because it is impossible for them to understand what I’m talking about. I would just lead to misunderstanding. But for one condition if those f*king alien and us earthlings would have same language and understand each others language. There is a great chance that they can be convinced.

Then if that is true I’ll talk and ask them what kind of living they are doing right now and why are the conquering our planet at this moment. If he answers those questions then it might be  good chance to talk about ethics and what is good and bad. Then I would let him see that Earth is not a good place to live I will let him see those calamities and the pollution that is currently around on earth. I will tell him that resources in Earth are almost depleted. I will tell them that they would not benefit on earth and they will just waste time on us. But the key is I would let them understand how poor we are right now how earthlings are suffering living on their own lives. If those thing would reach their hearts and mind, I would greatly appreciate it.

All in all if this thing would really happen it will be difficult for us to make them understand us because ethics is just an illusion that bounds to our freedom to avoid things that could harm us. Even those f*king alien have their own ethics they have also things that they believe and true to them. If they don’t have ethics why would they bother us or why they can’t kill their own kind. That’s just a simple proof that they have also the thing called ethics.
